Int’l students eligible.  Academia Sinica (AS), a prominent national research institution in Taiwan, offers opportunities for around 600 postdoctoral fellows each year.  In the fields of mathematics and physical sciences, life sciences, humanities and social sciences.

 

African American Success Foundation- Lydia Donaldson Tutt-Jones Memorial Grant

Int’l students NOT eligible; Provides research grants to graduate students and professionals who engage in research about African American success and related issues.

American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS): Science & Technology Policy Fellowships

Int’l students NOT eligible.  The AAAS Science & Technology (S&T) Policy Fellowships are opportunities awarded to recent Ph.D. graduates to who wish to engage in professional development and public service through scientifically informed, evidence-based policy and practice.

 

American Association of University (AAUW): Fellowships and Grants

Int’l students NOT eligible; The American Association of University Women (AAUW) is one of the world’s largest sources of funding for women graduate students.  AAUW is provides funding for several hundred fellowships and grants to outstanding women and nonprofit organizations.

American Educational Research Association (AERA): Funding Opportunities

Int’l students eligible; The American Educational Research Association (AERA) small research grants and training for graduate students who conduct studies of education policy and practice using quantitative methods and including the analysis of data from the large-scale data sets sponsored by National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) and NSF.

American Indian Graduate Center (AIGC): Graduate Fellowships

Only for American Indigenous people. The AIGC Cobell Graduate Scholarships are awards made to American Indian and Alaskan Native graduate or professional full-time degree-seeking students.

 

American Institute of Indian Studies - Grants and fellowships

Int’l students eligible. The American Institute of Indian Studies provides funding opportunities for pre-doctoral and post-doctoral scholars conduct research on issues involving the country of India.

American-Scandinavian Foundation Grants  Fellowships and Awards

Only for Americans and Scandinavians; The ASF's award program for study and research abroad awards fellowships and grants to graduate students in study or research projects with a Scandinavian focus.

DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service): Scholarships and Fellowships

Int’l students eligible; The German Academic Exchange Service offers scholarships  research grants  and fellowships to graduate –level students and doctoral students in the humanities  social sciences and physical science who would like to conduct research in Germany.

Dan David Prize

Int’l students eligible. The Dan David Prize awards scholarships to both Doctoral Students and Post-Doctoral researchers conducting research in one of the selected fields of study for the year.

 

Dwight David Eisenhower Graduate Transportation Fellowships

Int’l students eligible.  Int’l students eligible.  The Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship Program (DDETFP) awards fellowships to graduate students pursuing degrees in transportation-related disciplines.

 

Esther Katz Rosen Graduate Student Fellowships

Int’l students eligible; This fellowship awards graduate students whose research is related to the psychological understanding of gifted and talented children and adolescents.

Embassy of France in the United States: Chateaubriand Fellowship

Int’l students eligible.  The Chateaubriand Fellowship is offered by the Embassy of France in the United States and awarded to doctorate students enrolled in American universities who would like to conduct research in France for up to 10 months.

 

Five College Fellowship Program

Int’l students eligible. Five College Fellowships offer year-long residencies for doctoral students in the fields of the Humanities, the Fine Arts or the Social Sciences who are in the midst of completing dissertations. The program  is intended to support scholars from “under-represented groups and/or scholars with unique interests and histories whose engagement in the Academy will enrich scholarship and teaching.”

Fulbright Scholar Program

Int’l students eligible; The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers fellowships for U.S. graduate students to study abroad for one academic year.

Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Program

Int’l students NOT eligible. This program provides research grants to colleges and universities to fund individual doctoral students in the fields of foreign languages and area studies who conduct research in other countries.

Hagley Museum & Library- Research Grants and Fellowships

Int’l students eligible; The Hagley Museum and Library offers the Henry Belin du Pont Dissertation Fellowships to doctoral students who have completed all course work for the doctoral degree and are conducting research on their dissertation and whose research on important historical questions would benefit from use of Hagley's research collections.

Henry Belin du Pont Dissertation Fellowships

Int’l students eligible. Henry Belin du Pont Dissertation Fellowships offer funding to graduate students who have completed all course work for the doctoral degree and are in the midst of conducting research on their dissertation. Ph.D. candidates whose research on important historical questions would benefit from use of Hagley's research collections are encouraged to apply.

Henry Luce Foundation Programs

Int’l students eligible. The Luce Scholars Program is a nationally competitive fellowship program intended to provide funding opportunities to graduate-level students who wish to glean a better understanding of Asia.

IREX: Projects of Funding and Fellowships

Int’l students eligible. IREX is an international nonprofit organization that offers innovative programs intended to promote lasting change on a global scale. IREX offers grant and fellowships to graduate students researching ways to improve education, media and communities.

 

Jack Kent Cooke Graduate Dissertation Fellowship

Int’l students eligible; The Jack Kent Cooke Dissertation Fellowship Award awards fellowships to advanced doctoral students who are completing dissertations that further the understanding of the educational pathways and experiences of high-achieving, low-income students.

Korean American Scholarship Foundation- Scholarships

Only Korean-Americans can apply; The Korean American Scholarship Foundation (KASF) awards scholarships Korean-American graduate students. The criteria for eligibility is broad, as the KASF looks to “assist Korean American students in pursuit of academic and personal achievement, encourage community and civic service as an integral part of leadership development, and nurture the sense of pride and confidence in Korean cultural heritage and tradition.”

Kosciuszko Foundation: Fellowships and Grants for Polish Citizens

Int’l students NOT eligible. The Kosciuszko Foundation annually awards a number of Fellowships/Grants to Polish citizens for advanced study, research, and/or teaching at universities and other institutions of higher learning in the United States.  Applicants must have completed their Ph.D.

 

Kosciuszko Foundation: Tuition Scholarship Program for Americans

Int’l students NOT eligible. Kosciuszko Foundation Tuition Scholarships provide funding opportunities to American students of Polish descent for graduate studies in any field at colleges and universities in the United States. 

 

Lemelson Center Fellows Program

Int’l students eligible. The Lemelson Center Fellows Program offers fellowships to pre-doctoral students and post-doctoral scholars engaged in creative research into the study of invention and innovation.

Lady Davis Fellowship Trust: Fellowships

Int’l students eligible. The Lady Day Fellowship Trust offers fellowships to student abroad conducting either graduate studies and or post-doctoral work.

Markowski-Leach Scholarships

Int’l students eligible; The Markowski-Leach Scholarship awards LGBTQ graduate students who plan to attend San Francisco State University  Stanford University  or University of California Berkeley* during the academic year of the award.

National Academies: Fellowships

Int’l students eligible.  Int’l students eligible. The Fellowships Office (FO) of the National Academies offers fellowships to pre-doctoral students and post-doctoral scholars. These fellowships are designed with the intention of promoting the career development of the researchers and scholars for the academic, federal, industrial and international workforce. These fellowships are made possible on behalf of government and private/foundation sponsors.

National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) Scholarship Program

Int’l students NOT eligible; The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) annually awards scholarships to outstanding graduate students who are either Italian American students who demonstrate outstanding potential and high academic achievement or students from any ethnic background majoring or minoring in Italian language, Italian studies, Italian American studies or a related field, who demonstrate outstanding potential and high academic achievements.

National Science Foundation (NSF): Graduate Research Fellowship Program

Int’l students NOT eligible; Several programs provide either direct (i.e.  from NSF) or indirect (i.e.  from an awardee institution) funding for graduate students at various levels and from different disciplines in the physical sciences.

Int’l students eligible; Several programs provide either direct (i.e.  from NSF) or indirect (i.e.  from an awardee institution) funding for graduate students at various levels and from different disciplines in the physical sciences.

New York State Senate, Student Programs Office: Graduate Program

Int’l students eligible. The New York State Senate offers graduate students of all disciplines legislative and memorial fellowships.  Each Legislative Fellow is assigned to a specific Senator’s office, where they will generally perform in-depth policy research, take part in meetings with various interest groups and constituents, and attend legislative sessions.

  • There are three Memorial fellowships available to graduate students: 1) The Roth Fellowship, where fellows are place in the Senate Majority Press Office, and expected to perform with superb communications skills and demonstrate an ability to explain policy positions quickly and concisely to the media and to the broader public, 2) The Wiebe Fellowship, where the fellows are placed in the Majority Counsel/Program Services Office to work on a variety of policy areas of interest to the Senate Majority Conference, and 3)
  • The Biggane Fellowship – where fellows are placed with the Senate Finance Committee to focus on budget and/or fiscal matters.

 

Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE): Academic Fellowships and Scholarships

Organization of American States: OAS Academic Scholarship Program

Int’l students eligible.  The OAS Academic Scholarship Program awards scholarships every year to support the pursuit of Master’s Degrees, Doctoral Degrees and Graduate Research leading to a university degree. Scholarships are available only to citizens and residents of the English-speaking Caribbean OAS Member States, and Suriname.

 

Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans

Int’l students NOT eligible; The Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans supports the graduate educations of 30 New Americans – permanent residents or naturalized citizens if born abroad; otherwise children of naturalized citizen parents -- each year.

Phi Beta Kappa Society: Awards and Fellowships

Int’l students eligible. The Phi Beta Kappa Society offers graduate students in the humanities several different award and fellowship opportunities.

Pittsburgh Foundation: Programs for Graduate Students

Int’l students eligible. The Pittsburgh Foundation offers a variety of scholarships to graduate students.

Point Foundation Scholarship

Int’l students eligible; The Point Foundation awards scholarships to promising LGBTQ students to achieve their full academic and leadership.

Presidential Management Fellows Program

Int’l students NOT eligible; Presidential Management Fellowships are awarded to graduate students who are looking to grow professionally through service to the country.

Smithsonian Institute- Fellowship Opportunities

Int’l students eligible. The Smithsonian Institute offers a variety of fellowship opportunities to graduate students, doctoral students and post-doctoral scholars.

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi Fellowship Program

Int’l students eligible; The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi currently awards fifty-one Fellowships to members entering the first year of graduate or professional study.

UJA-Federation of New York- Wiener Educational Center Scholarship

Int’l students NOT eligible; The UJA-Federation’s graduate student scholarships offer a full range of educational, scholarship, and professional development opportunities for current and prospective Jewish communal professionals. Eligible fields of study include: clinical psychology, Jewish education, nonprofit business administration, nonprofit management, public administration, rabbinic ordination and social work.

William Randolph Hearst Fellowships

Int’l students eligible.  The William Randolph Hearst Fellowship offers graduate students an opportunity to serve as an historic house intern at the Mount Vernon Hotel Museum and Garden over the course of a summer. Graduate students interested in American Studies, U.S. History, Museum Studies, Education, or Historic Preservation are encouraged to apply.
