Int’l students eligible.  Academia Sinica (AS), a prominent national research institution in Taiwan, offers opportunities for around 600 postdoctoral fellows each year.  In the fields of mathematics and physical sciences, life sciences, humanities and social sciences.

 

AFCEA - Scholarships

Int’l students eligible. AFCEA offers several different scholarships to graduate students who have a background in or are pursuing careers as engineers, technicians, programmers, military personnel and government officials.   

AIF - The William J. Clinton Fellowship for Service in India

Only for US citizens/permanent residents/Indian citizens.  The Fellowship selects highly skilled young professionals and pairs them with leading NGOs and social enterprises for 10 months of fieldwork in India in order to accelerate impact and create effective projects that are replicable, scalable, and sustainable.

Air & Waste Management Association: Scholarship Program

Int’l students eligible.  These scholarships are available to full-time graduate students who are pursuing courses of study and research leading to careers in air quality, waste, or sustainability pertaining to air quality or waste.

Alberta Heritage Scholarship Fund: Sir James Lougheed Awards of Distinction

Only for Canadian citizens/permanent residents. These scholarships, for masters and doctoral level studies,  are designed to recognize academic achievement and provide Albertans with the opportunity for advanced study at educational institutions outside of Alberta.

Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf: College Scholarship Awards

Int’l students eligible.  AG Bell offers several scholarships for full-time students who have a pre-lingual bilateral hearing loss in the moderately-severe to profound range, use listening and spoken language, and who are pursuing a bachelors, masters or doctorate (not law or public policy) degree at an accredited mainstream college or university

American Academy of Arts and Sciences- Hellman Fellowship in Science and Technology Policy

Int’l students eligible.  The Hellman Fellowship in science and Technology, offered by the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, provides residential fellowships for postdoctoral researchers in science and engineering to gain experience in public policy.

American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS): Mass Media Science & Engineering Fellows Program

Int’l students eligible. This 10-week summer program is designed for science, engineering and mathematics students at national media organizations, intended to help train scientists to better communicate their complex research to the public.

American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS): Science & Technology Policy Fellowships

Int’l students NOT eligible. These fellowships, intended to simultaneously advance the sciences and society, are available for individuals with PhDs in the social and behavioral sciences, medical and health sciences, physical sciences, computational sciences and engineering.

American Association of University (AAUW): Fellowships and Grants

Int’l students NOT eligible; The American Association of University Women (AAUW) is one of the world’s largest sources of funding for women graduate students.  AAUW is provides funding for several hundred fellowships and grants to outstanding women and nonprofit organizations.

American Center of Oriental Research (ACOR) Fellowships

Int’l students eligible. Provides several fellowships for scholars of oriental research in the humanities, social sciences and physical sciences.

American Concrete Institute (ACI) Foundation Fellowships & Scholarships

Int’l students eligible. Fellowships are available to students in an engineering discipline that seek to work with concrete.

American Congress on Surveying and Mapping (ACSM)/National Society of Professional Surveyors: Scholarships and Awards

Int’l students eligible. The American Congress on Surveying offers scholarship opportunities to graduate students enrolled in surveying, mapping, geographic information systems, and geodetic science programs.

 

American Educational Research Association (AERA): Funding Opportunities

Int’l students eligible; The American Educational Research Association (AERA) small research grants and training for graduate students who conduct studies of education policy and practice using quantitative methods and including the analysis of data from the large-scale data sets sponsored by National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) and NSF.

American Indian Graduate Center (AIGC): Graduate Fellowships

Only for American Indigenous people. The AIGC Cobell Graduate Scholarships are awards made to American Indian and Alaskan Native graduate or professional full-time degree-seeking students.

 

American Institute of Indian Studies - Grants and fellowships

Int’l students eligible. The AIIS offers junior fellowships to graduate students that are conducting their doctoral dissertation research in India.

American Meteorological Society (AMS): Graduate Fellowship

Int’l students NOT eligible. The AMS graduate program offers fellowships to graduate students who are entering their first year of study in the fields of the  atmospheric sciences, chemistry, computer sciences, engineering, environmental sciences, hydrology, mathematics, oceanography, and physics 

 

American Meteorological Society (AMS): Graduate Fellowship in the History of Science

Int’l students eligible.  The American Meteorological Society (AMS) offers the Graduate Fellowship in the History of Science to outstanding doctoral candidates who are in the process of completing a dissertation on the history of the atmospheric, or related oceanic or hydrologic sciences. The Fellowship offers a $15,000 stipend and will support one year of dissertation research.

 

American Physical Society (APS)- Fellowships

Int’l students eligible. APS, in affiliation with the popular AAAS program, awards two ten-week fellowships for physics students to work full-time over the summer as reporters, researchers, and production assistants in mass media organizations nationwide.

 

American-Scandinavian Foundation Grants  Fellowships and Awards

Only for Americans and Scandinavians; The ASF's award program for study and research abroad awards fellowships and grants to graduate students in study or research projects with a Scandinavian focus.

American Society for Photogrammetry & Remote Sensing (ASPRS): Awards and Scholarships

Argonne National Laboratory (ANL): Graduate Programs

Int’l students eligible. The Argonne National Laboratory offers  Laboratory Graduate Research (Lab Grad) appointments to qualified U.S. university graduate students who wish to carry out their thesis research at Argonne National Laboratory under co-sponsorship of an Argonne staff member and a faculty member.

 

AT&T Labs Fellowship Program

Int’l students eligible; AT&T Labs - Research offers summer internships to graduate students with an interest and experience on working on research problems in the fields of Computing and Communications Foundations, Networking and Software Systems, and Information and Intelligent Systems.

DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service): Scholarships and Fellowships

Int’l students eligible; The German Academic Exchange Service offers scholarships  research grants  and fellowships to graduate –level students and doctoral students in the humanities  social sciences and physical science who would like to conduct research in Germany.

Dan David Prize

Int’l students eligible. The Dan David Prize awards scholarships to both Doctoral Students and Post-Doctoral researchers conducting research in one of the selected fields of study for the year.

 

Department of Energy Computational Science Graduate Fellowship (DOE CSGF)

Int’l students NOT eligible; The Department of Energy Computational Science Graduate Fellowship (DOE CSGF) program awards graduate students who are using high performance computing to better understand fundamental properties of the world and universe around us, and to solve complex problems in areas of national importance, such as climate change and sustainable energy sources.

DoD Science  Mathematics And Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship

Int’l students NOT eligible; The Science, Mathematics And Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship for Service Program has been established by the Department of Defense (DoD) to support graduate students pursuing degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines.

Dwight David Eisenhower Graduate Transportation Fellowships

Int’l students eligible.  The Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship Program (DDETFP) awards fellowships to graduate students pursuing degrees in transportation-related disciplines.

 

Embassy of France in the United States: Chateaubriand Fellowship

Int’l students eligible.  The Chateaubriand Fellowship is offered by the Embassy of France in the United States and awarded to doctorate students enrolled in American universities who would like to conduct research in France for up to 10 months.

Five College Fellowship Program

Int’l students eligible. Five College Fellowships offer year-long residencies for doctoral students in the fields of the Humanities, the Fine Arts or the Social Sciences who are in the midst of completing dissertations. The program  is intended to support scholars from “under-represented groups and/or scholars with unique interests and histories whose engagement in the Academy will enrich scholarship and teaching.”

 

Fannie and John Hertz Foundation: Graduate Fellowship Awards

Int’l students eligible; The Hertz Foundation awards fellowship support to the nation’s excellent PhD students in the physical  biological and engineering sciences.

Fulbright U.S. Students Program

Int’l students eligible; The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers fellowships for U.S. graduate students to study abroad for one academic year.

Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Program

Int’l students NOT eligible. This program provides research grants to colleges and universities to fund individual doctoral students in the fields of foreign languages and area studies who conduct research in other countries.

GEM Fellowships

Int’l students NOT eligible; GEM's awards fellowships to engineering students at the MS and Ph.D. levels coupled with paid summer internships.

Hagley Museum & Library- Research Grants and Fellowships

Int’l students eligible; The Hagley Museum and Library offers the Henry Belin du Pont Dissertation Fellowships to doctoral students who have completed all course work for the doctoral degree and are conducting research on their dissertation and whose research on important historical questions would benefit from use of Hagley's research collections.

Henry Belin du Pont Dissertation Fellowships

Int’l students eligible. Henry Belin du Pont Dissertation Fellowships are four-month residential fellowships designed for Ph.D. candidates who have completed all course work for the doctoral degree and are currently conducting research on their dissertation.  Applications are accepted from Ph.D. candidates whose research on important historical questions would benefit from use of Hagley museum’s ( a Smithsonian affiliate) research collections. 

 

Henry Luce Foundation Programs

Int’l students NOT eligible. The Luce Scholars Program is a fellowship program. It designed to enhance the understanding of Asia among potential leaders in American society. The program provides stipends, language training, and individualized professional placement in Asia for 15-18 Luce Scholars each year, and invites applications from both college seniors and graduate students from variety of fields who have had limited exposure to Asia. 

Candidates must be U.S. citizens who, by July 1 of the year they enter the program, will have received at least a bachelor’s degree and will not have reached their 30th birthday.

 

Hispanic Scholarship Fund- Scholarships for College / Graduate Students

Int’l students NOT eligible. The Hispanic Scholarship Fund offers scholarships to graduate students who are Hispanic-background US citizens, permanent residents, DACA or eligible non-residents

Hudson River Foundation for Science and Environmental Research : Fellowships

Int’l students eligible. The Hudson River Foundation offers the Mark B. Bain Graduate Fellowship to either masters or doctoral students conducting research on the Hudson River system.

IBM Ph.D. Fellowship Awards Program

Int’l students eligible. The IBM Ph.D. Fellowship Awards Program offers fellowships to outstanding Ph.D. students who have an interest in solving problems that are deemed important to IBM and in a broader sense fundamental to innovation in many academic disciplines and areas of study. These include: computer science and engineering (including cyber security, cloud, and mobile computing), electrical and mechanical engineering, physical sciences (including chemistry, material sciences, and physics), mathematical sciences (including analytics of massive scale data with uncertainty, operations research, and optimization), public sector and business sciences (including urban policy and analytics, social technologies, learning systems and Cognitive Computing), and Service Science, Management, and Engineering (SSME).

Interservice / Industry Training Systems and Education Conference (I/ITSEC): Scholarships

Int’l students eligible. I/ITSEC offers graduate students at the masters and doctoral level scholarship opportunities for students interested in leadership in modeling and simulation. Awards are being offered at a Masters level in the amount $5,000, and at a Doctoral level in the amount of $10,000. 

 

Korean American Scholarship Foundation- Scholarships

Only Korean-Americans can apply; The Korean American Scholarship Foundation (KASF) awards scholarships Korean-American graduate students. The criteria for eligibility is broad, as the KASF looks to “assist Korean American students in pursuit of academic and personal achievement, encourage community and civic service as an integral part of leadership development, and nurture the sense of pride and confidence in Korean cultural heritage and tradition.”

Kosciuszko Foundation: Fellowships and Grants for Polish Citizens

Int’l students NOT eligible. The Kosciuszko Foundation annually awards a number of Fellowships/Grants to Polish citizens for advanced study, research, and/or teaching at universities and other institutions of higher learning in the United States.  Applicants must have completed their Ph.D.

 

Kosciuszko Foundation: Tuition Scholarship Program for Americans

Int’l students NOT eligible. Kosciuszko Foundation Tuition Scholarships provide funding opportunities to American students of Polish descent for graduate studies in any field at colleges and universities in the United States. 

Lady Davis Fellowship Trust: Fellowships

Int’l students eligible. The Lady Day Fellowship Trust offers fellowships to student abroad conducting either graduate studies and or post-doctoral work.

Lemelson Center Fellows Program

Int’l students eligible. The Lemelson Center Fellows Program offers fellowships to pre-doctoral students and post-doctoral scholars engaged in creative research into the study of invention and innovation.

Markowski-Leach Scholarships

Int’l students eligible; The Markowski-Leach Scholarship awards LGBTQ graduate students who plan to attend San Francisco State University  Stanford University  or University of California Berkeley* during the academic year of the award.

National Academies: Fellowships

Int’l students eligible.  Int’l students eligible. The Fellowships Office (FO) of the National Academies offers fellowships to pre-doctoral students and post-doctoral scholars. These fellowships are designed with the intention of promoting the career development of the researchers and scholars for the academic, federal, industrial and international workforce. These fellowships are made possible on behalf of government and private/foundation sponsors.

National Academy of Sciences - NRC Research Associateship Programs (RAP)

Int’l students eligible; The NRC Research Associateship Programs (RAP) offers research opportunities at sponsoring federal laboratories and institutions to graduate students who promote excellence in scientific and technological research.

National Air and Space Museum (NASM): Fellowships

Int’l students eligible. The National Air and Space Museum offers Guggenheim Fellowships to predoctoral conducting research in aviation and space history. The Guggenheim fellowships are competitive three- to twelve-month in-residence fellowships for pre- or postdoctoral research in aviation and space history. Predoctoral applicants should have completed preliminary course work and examinations and be engaged in dissertation research. 

 

National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship Program

Int’l students NOT eligible.  National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowships are awarded to doctoral students who are pursuing a degree in the following 15 in, or closely related to, an area of DoD interest within one of the fifteen following disciplines: Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering, Biosciences, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Cognitive, Neural and Behavioral Sciences, Computer and Computations, Electrical Engineering, Geosciences, Materials Science and Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Oceanography, and Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering.

National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) Scholarship Program

Int’l students NOT eligible; The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) annually awards scholarships to outstanding graduate students who are either Italian American students who demonstrate outstanding potential and high academic achievement or students from any ethnic background majoring or minoring in Italian language, Italian studies, Italian American studies or a related field, who demonstrate outstanding potential and high academic achievements.

National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Graduate Program

Int’l students NOT eligible. Sponsored by the US Department of Energy, the National Nuclear Security Administration Graduate Program offers fellowships to outstanding graduate students interested in nuclear global security.

National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE): African-American Graduate Fellowships

Scholarships are available only to citizens and residents of the English-speaking Caribbean OAS Member States, and Suriname.
