Abbey Awards and Fellowships in Painting

Int’l students NOT eligible.  The Abbey Scholarship offers an early-career painter a full academic year experience at the British School at Rome, whereas Abbey Fellowships offer mid-career painters three months at the School during the same period.

 

ABE Fellowship

Int’l students eligible. The Abe Fellowship promotes international multidisciplinary research on topics of global import, seeking to foster the development of a new generation of researchers built around several policy-relevant topics. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or the terminal degree in their field, or have attained an equivalent level of professional experience at the time of application.

 

Academia Sinica-Postdoctoral Research Fellowship

Int’l students eligible.  Based in Taiwan, the Academia Sinica (AS), provides a well-developed research environment for up to 600 postdoctoral fellowships in areas of interest that span the fields of mathematics and physical sciences, life sciences, humanities and social sciences at AS.

This is a full-time research position, with initial appointment is on a 2-year term

 

AIER Student Summer Fellowship Program

Int’l students eligible.  Junior and senior college students majoring in economics, finance, business or related fields as well as graduate students in economics, finance, business or related fields are encouraged to apply. 

 

AIF - The William J. Clinton Fellowship for Service in India

Only for US citizens/permanent residents/Indian citizens.  The Fellowship selects highly skilled young professionals and pairs them with leading NGOs and social enterprises for 10 months of fieldwork in India in order to accelerate impact and create effective projects that are replicable, scalable, and sustainable.

Air & Waste Management Association: Scholarship Program

Int’l students eligible.  These scholarships are available to full-time graduate students who are pursuing courses of study and research leading to careers in air quality, waste, or sustainability pertaining to air quality or waste.

Alberta Heritage Scholarship Fund: Sir JamesLougheed Awards of Distinction

Only for Canadian citizens/permanent residents. These scholarships, for masters and doctoral level studies,  aredesigned to recognize academic achievement and provide Albertans with the opportunity for advanced study at educational institutions outside of Alberta.

Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf: College Scholarship Awards

Int’l students eligible.  AG Bell offers several scholarships for full-time students who have a pre-lingual bilateral hearing loss in the moderately-severe to profound range, use listening and spoken language, and who are pursuing a bachelors, masters or doctorate (not law or public policy) degree at an accredited mainstream college or university

Alexander von Humboldt Foundation: Fellowships and Awards

Int’l students eligible. The Humboldt foundation has several fellowships and awards for scholars from any area of specialization, as long as they conduct their research abroad in Germany.

Alfa Fellowship Program to Russia

Only for U.S. or U.K. citizens.  The Alfa Fellowship Program is a professional development program that matches accomplished young professionals with work assignments at leading organizations in Russia in several fields, including business, economics, journalism, law, public policy and related areas

 

Alliance for Health Reform Internship

Int’l students eligible.  The Alliance for Health Reform hires interns focused on health policy research and media relations. Interns at the Alliance engage in media outreach and educational efforts in the D.C .area

American Academy in Berlin Fellowship Program

Int’l students NOT eligible; The American Academy in Berlin offers fellowship opportunities for advanced research in a variety of academic  cultural  and political affairs.  Fellowship benefits have included round-trip airfare  room at the Academy  partial board  and a stipend.

Int’l students eligible.  The Academy’s Visiting Scholars Program provides residential fellowships for junior faculty members and postdoctoral researchers in the humanities and social sciences. The fellowship program offers scholars a year for research and writing free from teaching responsibilities.

Int’l students eligible.  The American Bar Foundation strives to foster the next generation of scholars in the field of law by providing fellowships that encourage original and significant research on law, the legal profession, and legal institutions.

Int’l students eligible; The American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) is a leading private institution that supports both doctoral students and postdoctoral academics in the humanities and social sciences at the doctoral and postdoctoral levels. The ACLS typically funds several hundred students each academic year.

American Educational Research Association (AERA): Funding Opportunities

Only for American Indigenous people. The AIGC Cobell Graduate Scholarships are awards made to American Indian and Alaskan Native graduate or professional full-time degree-seeking students.

 

American Institute for Yemeni Studies (AIYS): Competitions for Fellowships for Study and Research in Yemen

American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA): John L. Carey Scholarships

Int’l students NOT eligible. The AICPA John L. Carey Scholarship program provides financial backing to students who hold degrees in the liberal arts and non-business who are pursuing both graduate studies in accounting and the CPA licensure. 

 

American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA): Minority Doctoral Fellowships

American Psychiatric Institute for Research and Education (APIRE)- Psychiatry Research Fellowships

American Psychological Association (APA) -Predoctoral Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services Application Instructions

Int’l students eligible; The PredoctoralMHSAS fellowship supports the training of practitioners in behavioral health services and prevention. This fellowship program is designed for graduate students in clinical, counseling and school psychology, and other psychology doctoral students whose training prepares them for careers in behavioral health services. BMI Student Composer Awards

Applicants must be citizens of countries in the Western Hemisphere. Co-sponsored by the BMI Foundation and by BMI, Student Composer Awards are made on an annual basis for compositions submitted by graduate students actively engaged in the study of music.

Camargo Foundation Residential Fellowship Cassis  France

Int’l students eligible; The Camargo Foundation offers a Residential Fellowship to graduate students doing research in the humanities and social sciences related to French and francophone cultures.  The fellowship is also available to composers, writers, and visual artists (painters, sculptors, photographers, filmmakers, video artists, and new media artists) pursuing creative projects.

Congressional Hunger Center: Leland International Hunger Fellows Program

Int’l students eligible.  The Mickey Leland International Hunger Fellows Program trains emerging leaders in the fight to end worldwide hunger through the funding of both fieldwork and policy work.

 

Council of American Overseas Research Centers: CLR/CAORC Grants for Short-Term Research in Portugal and/or Lusophone Africa

Int’l students NOT eligible. CLR/CAORC grants are for researchers in the arts, humanities, or social sciences based at US institutions who wish to conduct innovative research on topics pertaining to Lusophone culture, politics, or society, with a particular emphasis on Luso-Africa. The grants are designed to support advanced research focused on regional, cross-regional, and cross-disciplinary aspects of the Lusophoneworld. Grants are primarily intended for travel expenses.

Council of American Overseas Research Centers: Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC) Multi-Country Research Fellowships

Int’l students NOT eligible.  The CAORC Multi-Country Research Fellowship Program supports regional or trans-regional research in the humanities, social sciences, or allied natural sciences for U.S. doctoral candidates and scholars who have already earned their Ph.D. Preference will be given to candidates conducting comparative and/or cross-regional research.

Dwight David Eisenhower Graduate Transportation Fellowships

Int’l students eligible.  The Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship Program (DDETFP) awards fellowships to graduate students pursuing degrees in transportation-related disciplines.

Int’l students eligible. Grants are wardedto graduate students in the arts who work with a representational style of painting, drawing, sculpting or printmaking.

Embassy of France in the United States: Chateaubriand Fellowship

Int’l students eligible.  The Chateaubriand Fellowship is offered by the Embassy of France in the United States and awarded to doctorate students enrolled in American universities who would like to conduct research in France for up to 10 months.

 

Fondation des Etats-Unis: Harriet Hale Woolley Scholarship

Int’l students NOT eligible. The Harriet Hale Woolley Scholarship is awarded to 4 outstanding American artists and musicians pursuing studies in Paris. Additionally, a scholarship is available to French, Swiss and American medical post-graduates in psychiatry for an internship in a Parisian hospital.

 

The Getty Foundation: Grants

Int’l students eligible.  Getty Pre-doctoral Fellowships are awarded to emerging scholars to complete work on projects related to the Getty Research Institute's annual theme. Recipients take-on residence at the Getty Research Institute, where they pursue research to complete their dissertations.

Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation

Int’l students eligible; The Foundation awards grants doctoral students for travel to and residence in Venice and the Veneto.  These grants are made to graduate students to support historical research on Venice and the former Venetian empire and the study of contemporary Venice.

Gloria Barron Wilderness Society Scholarship

Int’l students eligible.  The Gloria Barron Wilderness Society Scholarship awards graduate students who have the potential to make a significant positive difference in wilderness protection in the United States.

Ford Foundation Fellowship Programs

Int’l students NOT eligible; Ford Foundation Fellowship awards are offered at the Pre-doctoral, Dissertation and Postdoctoral levels. Awards are made to individuals “who, in the judgment of the review panels, have demonstrated superior academic achievement, are committed to a career in teaching and research at the college or university level, show promise of future achievement as scholars and teachers, and are well prepared to use diversity as a resource for enriching the education of all students.”

Fulbright Scholar Program

Int’l students eligible; The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers fellowships for U.S. graduate students to study abroad for one academic year.

Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Program

Int’l students NOT eligible. This program provides research grants to colleges and universities to fund individual doctoral students in the fields of foreign languages and area studies who conduct research in other countries.

Garden Club of America (GCA): Scholarships

Int’l students eligible. The GCA provides several scholarships to graduate students in the fields of botany, coastal wetlands studies, conservation, desert studies, garden history and design, horticulture, landscape architecture, native bird habitat, pollinator research, and urban forestry.

George H. Nofer Scholarship for Law and Public Policy

Int’l students eligible, The George H.Nofer Scholarship for Law and Public Policy offers scholarships to graduate students with a pre-lingual bilateral hearing loss in the moderately-severe to profound range, who use listening and spoken language as their primary method of communication, and who are attending an accredited mainstream law school or a masters or doctoral program in public policy or public administration

 

German Historical Institute Doctoral Fellowship

Int’l students eligible. The GHI awards short-term fellowships to German and American doctoral students conducting research in the fields of German history, the history of German-American relations, and the history of the role of Germany and the USA in international relations. 

 

Google Policy Fellowship

Int’l students eligible. The Google Policy Fellowship program offers fellowships to graduate and law students interested in Internet and technology policy. Each fellowship affords the student the opportunity to spend the summer contributing to the public dialogue on these issues, and exploring future academic and professional interests.

 

Graham Foundation: Carter Manny Award

Int’l students eligible. The Graham Foundation offers the Carter Manny Award in two areas: a research award for a student at the research stage of the doctoral dissertation and a writing award for a student at the writing stage of the doctoral dissertation. 

 

Hagley Museum & Library- Research Grants and Fellowships

Int’l students eligible; The HagleyMuseum and Library offers the Henry Belin du Pont Dissertation Fellowships to doctoral students who have completed all course work for the doctoral degree and are conducting research on their dissertation and whose research on important historical questions would benefit from use of Hagley's research collections.

Harry S. Truman Library Institute: Research Grants Program

Int’l students eligible. The Harry Truman Library Institute offers Dissertations Year Fellowships to emerging scholars whose research focuses on illustrating central issues of Truman’s presidency and legacy.

 

Hartford Doctoral Fellows Program in Geriatric Social Work

Int’l students NOT eligible; The Hartford Doctoral Fellows Program awards fellowships to doctoral students doing research in the field of Geriatric Social Work. The program, a component of the nationwide Geriatric Social Work Initiative, provides substantial financial support and professional development enhancements, prepares you for a tenure track faculty position at a major university, and provides the opportunity to become a leader in an elite network of scholars.

Henry Belin du Pont Dissertation Fellowships

Int’l students eligible. Henry Belin du Pont Dissertation Fellowships are four-month residential fellowships designed for Ph.D. candidates who have completed all course work for the doctoral degree and are currently conducting research on their dissertation.  Applications are accepted from Ph.D. candidates whose research on important historical questions would benefit from use of Hagley museum’s ( aSmithsonian affiliate) research collections. 

 

Henry Luce Foundation Programs

Int’l students NOT eligible. The LuceScholars Program is a fellowship program. It designed to enhance the understanding of Asia among potential leaders in American society. The program provides stipends, language training, and individualized professional placement in Asia for 15-18 LuceScholars each year, and invites applications from both college seniors and graduate students from variety of fields who have had limited exposure to Asia. 

Candidates must be U.S. citizens who, by July 1 of the year they enter the program, will have received at least a bachelor’s degree and will not have reached their 30th birthday.

 

Herb Society of America: Grants and Scholarships
