As Executive Director of Budget and Finance for the Office of the Senior Vice Chancellor for Research (OSVCR), Neil Bayer is the most senior financial staff member. Bayer supports the offices reporting to the OSVCR, is a key member of the leadership team, and works with external constituencies to build the scale, quality, and impact of the University’s research mission.
Bayer has more than 20 years of experience in finance and accounting within various industries including public, private, non-profit, and higher ed organizations.
He previously worked as a Director of Finance for CBRE, Inc. overseeing all corporate and client finance and accounting functions for the division. Prior to CBRE, Bayer served as the Vice President of Finance at Carlow University and has held various roles within non-profits and government in the Pittsburgh region.
Bayer is an active member of NACUBO (National Association of College and University Business Officers), EACUBO (Eastern Association of College and University Business Officers) and GFOA (Government Finance Officers of America).
Bayer earned his bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting from Washington & Jefferson College and his MBA in corporate finance from Robert Morris University.
