Conflict of Interest Analyst

Supports the functions and activities of the Conflict of Interest Division (COID) in the Office of Research Protections. Ensures individual and institutional conflicts of interest (collectively, COIs) are identified, reviewed, and managed in compliance with University of Pittsburgh policies and, when applicable, federal regulations.

Industry Partnerships Specialist

Researches and identifies new partners to provide research funding and technology licensing for the University. Leverages advanced industry knowledge to build and maintain a portfolio of strategic corporate partnerships. Cultivates key industry sponsored research and technology licensing opportunities.

Institutional Review Board (IRB) Specialist

Ensures research is conducted in compliance with federal and state regulations and University policies and procedures.

Licensing Assistant

Assists with the identification, development, and oversight of licensing opportunities for intellectual property. Coordinates agreements for the department and supports agreement draft preparations. Performs administrative licensing work and facilitates initial communications with inventors.

Licensing Specialist

Develops and oversees licensing opportunities for intellectual properties and manages a portfolio of cases. Determines and negotiates potential University licensing opportunities and executes commercialization strategies for inventions. Initiates communications with and qualifies potential licensees, writes agreements, and ensures the University's patent rights are secured.

Research Compliance Specialist

Serves as regulatory liaison for all clinical sites, coordinating centers, and data management centers and performs grant approval reviews and assists with regulatory reviews. Coordinates investigator training sessions, assists with compliance investigations, maintains databases, and develops approval guidelines to ensure institutional compliance with all regulations, policies, and applicable regulations. 

Regulatory Coordinator

Oversees submission of regulatory documentation and informed consent documents for the Scientific Review Committee (SRC) and the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and follows-up with investigators to ensure compliance with all policies and regulations. Develops tools and tracking systems for internal study management and maintains research records and files.

Regulatory Specialist

Ensures that all federal regulations are adhered to and maintains up-to-date information regarding federal regulations and ethical considerations. Provides regulatory protocol training. Crafts and distributes applicable regulatory documents for research communities. Submits protocol reviews, verifies required documents, and handles issues.

Sponsored Programs Coordinator

Coordinates the internal processing of communications, transaction requests, and sponsor requests. Advises on the preparation and submission of sponsored project actions. Reviews budgets and documents, drafts simple modifications, and refers more complex requests to senior team members. Facilitates compliance reviews and confirms award activities have been reviewed and approved by appropriate personnel.

Sponsored Programs Officer

Supports the preparation and submission of proposals and/or negotiates research agreements on behalf of the University. Prepares routine research agreement task orders, modifications, and non-financial agreements. Reviews and documents compliance with policies and procedures. Maintains electronic research administration records.

Pitt Research Workforce Development Initiatives

Workforce Development Committee:  Launched in 2021, this committee was created as a result of strategic planning efforts among Pitt Research leadership and staff and is focused on the goal of developing our workforce.

Pitt Research Foundations Program: Competitive, one year, six-session, interactive program designed for Pitt Research staff to develop soft skills and to engage with Pitt Research leadership.

Pitt Research Internship Program: Competitive internship program for a Pitt underrepresented undergraduate intern who has an interest in gaining a well-rounded overview and experience in research administration at the university.
