Pitt Research Workforce Development Initiatives

Pitt Research leadership and staff created several initiatives to support our current staff in their professional development. These include creation of a workforce development committee, several subcommittees to coordinate workforce projects and a workplace skills training program for staff.

Industry Partnerships Specialist

Develops strategic corporate partnerships based on advanced industry knowledge to cultivate sponsored research and licensing opportunities.

Institutional Review Board (IRB) Specialist

Ensures research is conducted in compliance with federal and state regulations and University policies and procedures.

Licensing Specialist

Manages licensing opportunities for intellectual properties, negotiates University licenses, engages licensees, and ensures patent rights are secured.

Research Compliance Specialist

Acts as a liaison and coordinator to appropriately handle investigations and databases. Develops guidelines to ensure institutional compliance.

Regulatory Specialist

Ensures that all federal regulations are adhered to and maintains up-to-date information, including training and regulatory documents, regarding federal regulations and ethical considerations.

Sponsored Programs Officer

Supports proposal preparation, negotiates research agreements, ensures policy compliance, and maintains research records.
