In his role as Resources Coordinator, Braden Brown provides support to the Research Development team primarily through managing Pitt's internal and limited submissions processes and putting together the weekly funding newsletter.
Before joining Pitt Research, Brown completed a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the University of Missouri under the direction of Dr. Rebecca Grollemund studying the linguistic pre-history of Bantu speakers in Cameroon prior to their dispersion throughout sub-Saharan Africa. During his graduate studies, Brown received a Dissertation Improvement Grant from the National Science Foundation to do field work for three summers on Iyasa, a marginalized Bantu language spoken in southern Cameroon. In addition to his academic work, Brown has also worked for the Mark Diamond Research Fund, which gives out research grants to graduate students within the University at Buffalo.
Brown earned his BA in French from Grinnell College, and his PhD in Linguistics from the University at Buffalo.
